Im a sophmore takin math 1b this semester and plan on majorin in applied math meaning i probably have to take math 53 and 54 next semester. Is that a good idea? How hard are these courses. Also is takin 55 in the summer a good idea? Thanks a lot

You kinda dropped the ball with your classes. Math 53, 54 and 55 are pretty disparate, but 54 and 55 might be better together than 54 and 53.

isnt 55 harder than 55 and what u mean that i dropped the ball

I think she means you should have skipped at least Math 1A if you’re Applied Math; taking Math 54 and Math 53 together is a pain no matter how good at math you are. Take Math 53 with math 55 and I think that’d be better than Math 54 and Math 53.

Also, Math 55 == Math 55.

im pretty sure 53,54,55 are all pretty equal in terms of amount of work needed to do average in the class. im an applied math major and taking 54 and 55 next sem. my roommate is appl math and hes taking 53 and 55 this sem and hes doing fine

its the same as taking two technical classes at the same time. engineers do it all the time

I don’t think it would be that much of a problem if you’re into working on math. My friend took 53 and 54 over the summer (H110 fall freshman year), and this semester another friend is taking that along with E7 and Physics 7A.

By dropping the ball I think he meant that a lot of math majors will probably have taken 1A and 1b during freshman year or passed out of them. I don’t think it should be a problem if you are able to plan your schedule well for the next few years.

if you wanna do math you may as well get started on real math. do math 55 ASAP. till then you may be confused what math is.
