I’m an Applied Mathematics students at a California community college. Up until the Fall 2019 semester, I was a 4.0 student. This semester, I earned a B in discrete mathematics and a C in a data structures programming course. However, I have still earned all A’s in the major requirement courses for applied mathematics. Discrete math and data structures are not part of the major requirements for the applied math major, so I want to know: how badly will a B and C in these courses affect my admissions to the University of California? I have applied to: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, and UCD.
What does the B and C put your GPA at? We cannot tell you how they will interpret it. Perhaps if you could explain the C in the additional comments in the January TAU it will help.
