I've received interviews for all of my schools except for H and Y, where I applied pretty close to the deadline. I wasn't expecting anything until I found out that one of my friends who applied pretty much right on the deadline just got an interview for Harvard (although she doesn't live near me), and now I'm holding on to the hope that maybe I'll actually receive a contact. Did I apply too late to get an interview or is there still hope? Thanks!

I applied on the night of the 29th and got an interview. If you don’t, it won’t be because you applied too late, or because you are a weak applicant - it’s just an issue of having enough alumni in the right places. Don’t sweat it.

The date you applied as no correlation to whether or not you get interviewed. The main factor is if there are enough volunteers in your area. Period.

Similarly, I applied on the 31st and got an interview mid-January.

Can I hear from more people about this? I’m in the same situation as the OP, interviews from every school except for H and Y, and all of my friends have gotten theirs. I’m not even sure if this is about enough volunteers, since I live in a rural area, and they seem to have accommodated everyone but me. Should I call admissions?

It’s random. Believe me. I’ve interviewed for my Ivy alma mater for +20 yrs. In my area this year, about 80% of people are assigned. Who are those other 20%? Just people for whom there weren’t enough volunteers.

If you’re not contacted, so what? The interview means nothing in most cases. Believe me.
