I’m so excited. I applied for early admission- and now it’s a waiting game. Does anyone know when interview decisions is made for early admission?
Does someone know how many applicants were accepted for early interview in January ?
TAMS mail indicated 3 groups - accepted for interview, deferral, or denied.
I also got an interview invite today. Where did you see reference to three groups?
I just realized my reply was kind of assumptious. Hopefully you recived an interview invite today too! If you didn’t, hopefully it’s a deferral. In previous years there was a lot of threads of people talking about their TAMS application process. It’s hard waiting so I’d like to hear from others going through similar experiences.
Yes. Noted that it was a deferral. Still I will keep a chance because it was not denied. My interview will be grouped with regular applicants. Good luck to all of us !!
One of my friends told me that almost everybody makes interview. Idk if thats true or not…
No, only about 2/3 of applicants make it to interview day. After that, they take about half of everyone at the interview and accept them. I thought a lot of people would make it to interview day, especially since so many people from my area applied, but it turns out most people got deferred to regular decision.
I wish I knew how many people applied this year. From what I heard, it varies quite a bit.
Dallascoppell, since yours is a deferral you can still add to your application. If you don’t mind, what was your SAT?
Good luck!
Ah finally an application thread for TAMS in the most recent application season! I’ve been searching for this forever… However, I’m finally here, and happy to say that coming from Plano ISD, over at Plano East’s IB World School, I’ve been accepted to Early Interview Day. What about you guys? I’m personally terrified about the interview and math tests. You guys know anything about those?
Hi guys,
I believe there are around 600 people that apply, so expect at least that many people applied this year @ilikenumbers. The math tests are identical to the practice tests, and the only change that they make is to the numbers used in the problems. I did terrible on my interview, but just try to get comfortable with public speaking @xXSwagnemiteXx. Feel free to ask me more question and good luck!
@ryaanwong, it’s cool to hear from you. I read your posts from last year when I was filling out my application and now you’re on the other side!
Do you like TAMS? What are some negatives? Did any people in your class leave/quit? I only hear good things but realistically it can’t be perfect for everyone.
Is TAMS similar to SMI? What percentage attended SMI? My time at SMI is what made me want to get into TAMS.
@ilikenumbers Yeah the fact that I got accepted to TAMS is still kind of unbelievable to me. I love TAMS because of how close I’ve became to the people their and being apart of the community is incredible. I wouldn’t say that there are that many negatives, but the percent rule doesn’t apply to us for colleges and GPA is based solely based on the letter grade. I don’t think anyone has chose to leave, but there are people that have cheated and weren’t invited back. Some other people chose not to work hard or procrastinated too much, and we’re kicked out because their GPA was too low (below 2.7). I didn’t go to SMI and I don’t know much about it, but I think they mainly just look at your overall application. That could definitely be something that you talk about during interview day or you might’ve already incorporated into your application essay/short answers.
**there (lol I made a typo in my previous post ^ :()
