TAMS

Hi,

I am a freshman who is extremely interested in going to tams and currently attends Plano east sr hs. My only worry is that I won’t be accepted because i have consistently had mid to high b’s in english and social studies classes. I have all A’s in the rest, 1500+ on sat and great teacher recs. I also swim for school, out of school, am in band, and am doing science fair next year. We do not have ranks because I am in IB.

What do you guys think?

Grades shouldn’t play too heavy of a role in the decision making. Since you’re a freshman and attending Plano east, it’s very likely you will get in. Plus, your SAT score is really good and you said you had good teacher recommendations (which play a heavy role). You shouldn’t worry too much about getting accepted or not since your application looks pretty neat… And if it makes you feel less anxious while waiting for an email from them (cause let’s be real, those of us who really want to go are dying throughout the two months we’re waiting to find out if we got in or not), there are people who also made B’s, low B’s, and people like me; who made EXTREMELY low scores on the SAT ( and these were alumnis and current TAMS students). :))

@suicidalist Thanks for replying. are you a current TAMSter? If you are, could you tell me a little bit about life at TAMS.

uhh, I applied for the early decision so I don’t think I can explain much about life there. However, on interview day, it was pretty ok. You get separated into groups, and sessions (there are two sessions: one will actually have the interview first, then have another chill session after which you don’t have to stress about. The other session has the chill session first, then goes to the actual interview <<< if that even makes sense) I’m not supposed to talk about the questions since we aren’t allowed to, unfortunately, however, the questions asked are to find out if you’re a good fit into TAMS ( there should be 6 questions I believe, and it’s a group interview so it would help if you get friendly in those in your group). Also, I don’t know if this is true or not but the people who interview you are people who just write down what you say, then it’s read by another group of people who decide whether you’re a good fit or not. I know I stuttered a lot throughout my interview, but as long as you answer their questions, it should fine (pretty sure everyone was shaking nervously throughout). They told us that about 300ish people applied for ED however, only 175 kids got an invite, and only 100 will be accepted from ED (some can be placed into regular decision). I don’t know if my knowledge of how it went for me will help you or not, but nonetheless, I hoped whatever I said helped. Sorry if the paragraph structure and my grammar confuses you but I’m an illiterate person so forgive me. Good Luck! : D

So i am applying early decision. what do you think my interview chances are

You should be fine; I’ve been told that ed statistically gives a higher chance of being accepted.
