Applied to Albert Dorman, only got this NJIT acceptance to show for it

My son applied to the Albert Dorman Honors College of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) for Computer Engineering. He just got an acceptance letter last night to NJIT but it makes no mention of the ADHC acceptance. I’m assuming that they handle the application in such a way as to apply to both even though it’s a one-or-nothing deal for my son. With the assumption that we will get a rejection or denial afterward, my question is how much long after this acceptance does the ADHC result arrive? I guess only people that have gotten theirs or past alums will be able to answer this.

My son got his a week or two later, any scholarships seem to come separately as well, so seems to be a bit of a drawn out process and multiple letters.

@m139pl Thanks for the quick reply but that raised another question if you don’t mind. There was a scholarship offer with last nights acceptance mail for NJIT, so do you mean that there will be additional scholarships possible with the ADHC?
In other words, do the scholarships add up? or do they instead recalibrate by making the original obsolete and offering a different value?

Congrats on your son’s acceptance, what degree will he aim for?

The ADHC letter said there would be an additional scholarship, not arrived yet, been a week or so -presuming it would be modifying to in-state tuition. Son should become a NMF so should get full ride there anyway.
He’s looking to do civil engineering, how about yours?

He’s really liking the outline of Computer Engineering more than Electrical Engineering so he says he is settled with C.E.
In case he wants to audit the general chemistry class over the summer before the fall semester starts, I found Missouri has a well received playlist of their full semester on youtube. I looked over the first 3 lectures and it brought back memories. In case yours wants to also, it’s called “CHM 105/106: Fundamentals of Chemistry”
I remember it was one of the more difficult classes for me and my Electrical Engineering buddies back in college. I looked over someone’s advices and reviews (a very comprehensive report) of his four years in Engineering at NJIT and he happened to suggest the same thing, that General Chemistry is best left for the latter years when you have more time between classes since it is difficult, also it is not a prerequisite of anything so it can be taken much later.
Good luck to yours in CivilEng!!

D got acceptance to both NJIT and honors college same day, different envelopes, last week. No mention of financial aid or scholarship. She got a letter from honors college with a $16K scholarship offer. It also stated that the award would cancel out any previous awards ( not that she got any anyway) from NJIT bc it’s the highest scholarship from honors

Just received the ADHC letter with a scholarship. As mommabear67 mentioned the letter states that it supersedes all previous awards (good job it’s bigger than the previous ones!).

Awesome!!
Hoping to see one that far supercedes the previous scholarship grant.
I’m really thinking he will be going to ADHC over all the rest of his choices, not just because this will be the more affordable option but also because of distance; it’s only a 40 minute train ride away or he could dorm if the money permits. I hear the dorms are great for ADHC and there is a video tour of ADHC dorms available on youtube if yall are interested in seeing that.

We toured the ADHC dorms last fall, very nice indeed! We are 1.5 hrs away, so no commuting for D…

From about 12 schools, we are narrowed down to just 3 schools.
NJIT
Lehigh
RIT

I’m still waiting for financial responses from all three but honestly I think my choice would be lehigh upto 5k.
In other words, whatever ADHC costs, I’d be willing to suggest Lehigh even if it were up to $5k more per year.
I very much doubt that RIT will beat either and I’ve heard some bad reviews from RIT anyway.
What are your choices still left @mommabear67 ?

@reformedman Have you heard from ADHC? We are in the same situation: S got NJIT acceptance about
two months ago but not a word from ADHC.

I think they are playing “wait and see” game with the applicants who are not obvious admit.
Has anybody been recently admitted to ADHC?

@Bu-ra-ti-no I had sent them an email asking about how some of my s classmates got their adhc notification in January and yet my s had not gotten it. I asked when will he be notified.
They responded two days later saying that they are still reviewing applicants and that we should receive a response in a couple of weeks. Still waiting.
I’m really hoping for some good news from ADHC because so far it seems like all the other choices for school are far too expensive.

Any chance you could also send an email asking for a specific date when to expect a notification? I’d really like to know as you would but I didn’t want to pester them with a second email.

Did you use honors@njit.edu to contact them? You are lucky they replied to you:
We sent two status-request emails back in the middle of January and did not get any response.
My assumption was that nobody checks that email.
