some people saying to take SAT's, other say dont. What to do?? i registered for em but can cancel with a refund. Hmmmmmmmmm

All I can say is I sure hope you gain admission - you are, as you say, motivated!

I'm thinking happy, positive thoughts for you surf.

thanks!!!!!!!!!!

i might not get in right now, but i think i will next time around. That way im more prepared with 3 letters of reccomendation and a much higher GPA.

I sooo know what you're going through - I applied to transfer to Florida State from my current university and I'm also on the border. Its been three weeks and it's all i can think about! Regarding your SAT's: check with pitt if they even will accept your new scores, because after 60 credits most schools don't look at your high school records anymore - just college.

Well,

i worked directly under the NJ governor last year at his house. I wanted to get a nice letter of reccomendation from him, so I knew he was home, so i gave him a call.

He tells me

"i dont have the time to write a whole letter right now. Write what you want, send it to me by tomorrow because i leave tomorrow afternoon, ill edit it, print it on stationary, and sign it"

so whats the ULTIMATE letter of reccomendation? what should i address in this letter?

that letter of reccomendation is done.

NOW- ANY SUGGESTIONS OF ADDITIONAL CLAASES TO ADD? HERES WHAT I WILL HAVE COMPLETED

-Financial Accounting Foundations
-Principles of Communications
-Organizational behavior
-Managerial Accounting foundations
-Literature of baseball
-US history 1815-1900
-Intro to Finance
-Industrial Sociology
-managment
-cultural diversity

-General Phsychology
-Intro to Health
-College Algebra
-College Algebra 2
-Composition 1

now these will take care of 60 credits + in core requriments. Those biz classes wont transfer, but i might be able to get a minor in it. So any suggestions on classes to register for before it closes?????? im waiting to take all science classes at Pitt, need 60 credits to graduate in Neuro.

maybe a class in philosophy? maybe a language?

Thanks

Literature of baseball sounds like fun! But seriously, you should go to the source and look up the graduation requirements for CAS and the Neuroscience department. It looks like you have a lot of courses already.

Writing Requirements

An Introductory Composition Course - Comp 101, Over June 15th. Tested out of it at Drexel, taking it at Community college.

Two Writing Intensive Courses - Literature of baseball maybe fits here, will have to take Neurological writing at Upitt to fill other requirment.

All students are required to take and pass with a grade of C- or better at least one course in university-level mathematics (other than trigonometry) for which algebra is a prerequisite, or an approved course in statistics or mathematical or formal logic in a department of the School of Arts and Sciences - taking 2, over june 15th

A Course in Literature - Literature of baseball

A Course in the Arts - No Idea what qualifies here?

A Second Course in Literature, the Arts, or in Creative Expression
This will be a second course in literature or the arts, or a course in which the student is given training in creative expression in writing, the theatrical arts, studio arts, filmmaking, photography, musical performance, musical composition, or dance. - No idea

A Course in Philosophy - Will take now

A Social Science Course- sociology and psychology DONE

A Course in Historical Change - DONE

Three Courses in the Natural Sciences - deals with Major (neuro)

A Sequence of Two Foreign Language Courses - maybe take two now

Three Foreign Culture/International Courses - Cultural Diversity (now), wont take two more immediately

Non-Western Culture Requirement - can take carribean history at community college. At least one of the courses used to satisfy the international culture requirement or another General Education Requirement (e.g. historical change) must address a culture or cultures other than those of the Mediterranean, Central and Western Europe, and French or English-speaking North America. cant over burden myself and take another.

thats the list, so maybe i should take philosphoy, 1 spanish, and then ill be right on the ball

Surf: lkf gave you good advice. I never heard of a course in the "Literature of Baseball." It's good if you could also send in course descriptions from the school. When I was applying to a post graduate program, I was asked to supply course descriptions to supplement my transcript. Then, the prospective school knew exactly what I had taken... You might want to email Pitt and ask if they require/if they're interested in any official course descriptions to clarify any questions they might have. Does Pitt have a transfer advisor??? Relax, and good luck.

Literature of baseball is basically an easy class where u read baseball novels all day long and write 2 papers a week. They dont offer it anymore though.

U PItt has a Literature of Sports class, im looking at the course catalog, mine was exactly the same except it focused on baseball only.

alright so to fill the gap heres what im doing

Eng comp 101, Philosophy, 2 Maths, 1 Cultural Diversity Class, cant take anymore because this schedule starts next week and its just too much. Class from 9 am -8 pm

actually i called. Principles of Comm fills my other lit requirment believe it or not, the seminar in composition. Woo woo, most of these core requirments are done

oh well, if thats what i have to do, thats what i have to do.

alright i only need 1 math class, i spoke to the school of arts and science director.

She said she was impressed that i was taking this initiative, she said very few students do. The ones that do take this initiative are the highest performers in their school. WOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

now i dropped one class, took a algebra class, and am gonna pick up 2 classes in place of that. The rest of the science classes i will take at Pitt, as they are known for science. Ill call her again tomorrow to speak to directers at community college, she said she would do that for me.

would it be better to take a photography class at a community college or take it at Drexel? my grades at Drexel Community college went 3.4, 3.1, then a 2.2. Im only taking one class there now, Anthro, so ill either take photography there to help the GPA or take it at community college/

what do u think would be better?

Thanks

As long as the credit transfers, I don't think it matters where you take it. Things sound like they are going well. I hope you hear good news soon!

well im taking 7 classes to fill all there core requirments, i will have every one complete but the 3 credits in the arts.

Next week my life is over, no more time for everything = /

heres what im getting myself into

Philosohpy, Algebra (not worried about), Composition (Not worried about), Western Civ 1, Western Civ 2, Public Speaking, Anthropolgy. ONly class at Drexel is Anthropology, seems like an Ok class. No final, just a few papers, presentations, and lectures to present.

this will satisfy every general ed requirment at pitt but 1 art class, and the art class isnt going to mean much. I have a higher shot if i complete all these credits to get accepted, even though I lost some along the way.

alright

i didnt get accepted or rejected. Basically, i meet their qualifications but i need to fill the general education requirments before being accepted into the program. I knew this would be the case, and im glad i registed for classes now.

i lost around 15 credits in the process, so ill make that up this semester. Im not going to take any language, i have "elementary proficiency" in spanish. The one class im worried about is a class in the Arts, i may just say F it and send the new transcript without that class. So i will only be missing the Arts and 1 non western culture class on the application, not bad. Everything else will be done and complete.

they are sending me a course catalog book so i can compare the classes between each place.

It was good that they didnt reject me, because they could of done that this much easier.

so now the pressure is on!

Glad to hear you're still in consideration. Good luck!

yea it could be worst, i just nee dto finish the GEn Ed Requirments. IN fact, they now require transfers to finish all those requirments before being accepted. 60 credits minimum is the new requirments for pitt transfers.

was actually on the phone with the lady from CAS for 30 minutes or so. Im going to have all my requirments finished for GEn Ed as of June 15th 07, just wont have an arts class. I dont need to take language (took 3 years in high school)>

in other news, Pitt just told me since Drexel is trimester, i dont get all the credit anyway. totally fine, but its a big pain in my ass. Only 2 more terms over there though to give the GPA some roids, then ill be fine
