i dont want to go 2 a satellite campus. ill be fine getting in the main, just might take some time

my plan is coming together nicely: getting 4 good letters of reccomendation by friday, taking 2 classes that are over June 15, taking SAT June 5 (should at least get a 1950), and taking 3 summer classes at community college that end June 15. All of that should help if i DONT get in, of course i dont know what will happen now.

It's good you have a plan. Keep us posted.

yea i want to go very bad. i think ill be fine after this semester, get my GPA QPA to a 3.2 overall, over the requirment they specify. Those classes are done June 12, then ill overnight a transcript if i dont get in, and know by end of june. Thats good too because im going away out of the country from july 3rd to 17.

so is it good if they didnt immediately trash my application?

Well it obviously would've been better if they just accepted you right away, but the fact that you didn't get rejected immediately means you are on the border. So even if you don't get accepted this time, you should have a good chance when you get your numbers up.

yea. I realized i was on the border. All i have to do is boot up SAT's and GPA to a 3.2 then ill be in. This is good though, i really emphasized my essays and put my heart and soul into it. Basically connected my life to their university and what it would mean.

So once my numbers get up ill be good. Thank god. I love that school, its nothing like Drexel.

hey, its better to be on the border then be rejected. Gotta count your blessings!

called the admission lady again, still no decision. Means im borderline student here at Pitt as my transcript states now, i wasnt immediately rejected because I made myself stand out. ON the flip side of the coin, i wasnt immediately accepted.

is it bad its taking this long?

Surftb15, just relax. None of us know what goes on in the Admissions office, so everything is just speculation. Worrying is not going to get you accepted any faster. Just focus on your schoolwork for now.

yea ur right.

Well im waiting to see what Pitt says and im freaking nervous as hell. You can tell im motivated to go, so its going to work no matter what. I'm not going to go and cry and give up my dreams.

Also im not taking any classes right this instant. Im taking a 6 week session at Community college to get that GPA up around a 3.5, this starts may 16. Also, Drexel semester add / drop period is over friday. I'm waiting to finisih registering once i hear back from Pitt, so i can know what classes to take. I cant really do much more because i have all there core requirments down for the college of arts and sciences without acknowledging my next plan of attack

the admssion lady said today i can call an admission counseler to get a responce over the phone (they usually dont do that, but she understood my circumstances).

what is pitt's policy on diversity? just curious.

my dad (God rest his soul) was born in india. Wierd thing was, he married my mom, who was born in Italy.

Schools want diversity, but I don't think Americans with Indian or Italian heritage are considered minorities!

yea i know, but my last name is Indian, same with my midlde name. Maybe they will just correlate name to race, without seeing me in person? might work.

anyway, im working hard to get into pitt. This will set me up nicely.

By the end of june, ill have all my requirments done witha 3.2 GPA minimum for sure.

LFK, whats your input?

my app is still at the committee, they dindt reject me or accept me yet. that means im borderline i guess?

what do you think?

You never know what's going on. You might be borderline, or maybe the person who is reviewing your application is out sick, or maybe half of the committee is on vacation, or ??? You are just making yourself crazy surftb, so try, try, try to relax and find something else to occupy your time and take your mind off of this a little! Clearly, you are motivated and if it doesn't work out this time, it will work out the next time. :) If you don't hear something by Thursday, I would call them on Friday morning and ask if any decision has been reached. I would not, however, call them every day as that might make you seem a little obsessive.

well the committeeis all there. Probably means im borderline, i know that for sure.

It will work out the second time, i know it. Plus, im determined too. i have the motivation and drive to succeeed in getting in, so itll work.

i wont call till friday now, as its the last dya off the add / drop period.

surftb15: Going to the community college is not a bad idea. Many state uni's have guaranteed programs if you maintain a certain gpa and take certain required courses. So, this is worth looking into.... Good luck to you.

im already registered, no agreement with Pitt though.

In drexel, since i scored above a certain number on my SATs, didnt need to take 2 Freshman Comp Classes. Pitt requires it. So heres what im doing this semester

A. Community college classes- Comp 1, Pre Calc, Calc. over june 23rd.

B. Drexel - Cultural Diversity, Unknown, Unkown Class. Over june 15th.

that will mean all my core requirments for Pitt are done. Once thats over with, my overall GPA should be approximetely a 3.3. Thats a lot better then now. That one semester Fed me unfortunately.
