they have no financial aid to speak of, 65% are loans, so if you are OOS forget about it, unless, of course, money is not a problem.

yeah i wish i had known this 3 months ago. i could have saved myself 50 bucks

seriously. One of my friends qualifies for a Pell Grant and all they offered was one unsubsidized stafford loan for 3500

i got a pell grant but it was for 1k. big help

My niece was offered an aid package at PSU-UP which she received a couple weeks ago. S.H.C. which is about $3500, but that was it. She is the eldest of four children in a family with a total income of about $80K. She's going to a small LAC in the midwest where she'll have loan totals of about $12K at graduation. At PSU, her loan debt at graduation would have been over $70K. So much for cheap state schools.

It doesn't look like PSU have a financial aid office. They have someone ACTING like one but if they charge $34K year for OOS then they must have something. All parents are expecting these schools to gap up, but if it is a $27K gap then it is bulls...or total bIlls.. UCF does sound a lot better

I seriously don't understand what I am doing here. OOS tuition is slightly over 25% more than my family income. After finaid, I am able to pay the rest for this first year plus last summer. I'm not sure how long I can actually continue this as it it draining my parents bank account pretty fast.

Please correct me if I am wrong. If I remember correctly, you are a low income URM. If I am correct, make an appointment with the Financial Aid Office ASAP. PSU has a number of diversity scholarships (do a search on the PSU website). Talk to a Financial Aid counselor. Make sure your FAFSA is filed. Also, search on line. There are a multitude of non-designated corporate scholarships available, particularly if you have a GPA over a 3.0. Apply, apply, apply.

Yeah. PSU gave me some diversity scholarships...not much though. Maybe like 1-2k total. I'll start looking for some scholarships online though. Thanks.

Please make an appointment with the fin aid office. Explain your situation. The worst thing that can happen is nothing. The best thing is extra $$$. Do it! (soon)

yeah definitely set up a meeting with anyone you can. multiple if you have to. I got one and walked out with a 1k scholarship and another scholarship which will give free tuition all 4 years

does anyone know when you get information about loans?

afro_ninj4...did u just say u got a schlorship for full tuition for 4 years???

yeah! and grants from FA cover the rest... its tight!

what is your stat like?

i called the dean of SHS, and he said (he 's pretty new to the job) and he only knows about the 3500$ scholarship for SHS students

qt: PSU has many colleges within the university. Different colleges give out different merit awards within the university not just SHC.

oh yea... i feel stupid now. i didn't even think about that aspect. thanks for the reminder ^^
