So I have been wanting to apply early decision to one of my reach schools for the most to increase my chances of actually getting accepted but I so wanted to apply regular decision to that same school so that I will have a little time to improve my GPA with my first semester senior grades. What do you guys think? Can you apply again regular decision if a college rejects you early decision?

Most schools which reject you EA will automatically roll you over to RD.

If you are rejected ED/EA then you won’t be able to apply RD. The only way you could go to the RD round is if they were to defer you.
If you think your could improve your GPA by doing well senior fall then I would wait to apply RD. On the other hand, your can also submit your fall semester interim grades if you should decide to apply ED/EA.

There are 3 possible outcomes with ED:
• Accepted
• Deferred to the RD pool
• Rejected

If you are flat-out rejected, you cannot reapply RD.

This is very helpful. Thanks

I think a person should apply ED only if there is one school that stands out as the number one choice. If you get into a school ED you must attend (unless you can show financial hardship). You don’t want to get locked into a school with an ED acceptance and have some regrets.

Only apply ED if it’s your absolute top choice. If it is your #1 choice, apply ED. Most schools defer instead of reject their ED applicants so your first semester Senior year grades will still help.

I don’t think it is true that most schools defer. Some schools do courtesy deferral for legacies. OP’s first semester interim grades should help.
