I know there are plenty of these out there on CC, but I think my situation might be unique (not sure)
There's this one college that I know is my top choice and I WOULD apply ED, but the problem is that the average GPA that is accepted is much higher in ED than RD, and my GPA is pretty low compared to the ED average accepted GPA. Would applying ED deter my chances of getting in?

Some schools will not allow you to re-apply RD. What is the difference in GPA? Also what is the difference in acceptance rate between ED and RD for this school?

It is the rule of all 4 year colleges that you can submit only one application for the given entry year. If you apply ED and are rejected you will not be allowed to apply RD. If you apply ED and get deferred, your original ED application just automatically becomes an RD application.

Well my GPA is a 3.3 UW and 3.5 W, which is a 88-90. But the average accepted GPA from my high school for RD is 94, ED is 95. It’s already a reach but my SAT scores match and I’m really good at essay-writing, so I think I might have a chance.

Well I thought the common concept, was that ED is for top applicants but can also benefit applicants that are borderline because of their commitment to the school.

I would suggest you apply ED was long as you can afford the school if you do not receive any aid or scholarships.

I might/probably am over thinking it, but I want to know which would give me a higher chance of getting in. Probably ED right?

ED generally creates a higher chance of admission than regular if your stats are within or above the colleges usual middle 50% range. If they are lower than that, you should not assume ED creates any advantage.
