Apply Early decision- senior grades?

IF you apply early decision to NU...

-Will you need to submit your senior grades? Or will it be too soon to do so. If you get good senior grades and want to, could you?

-Can I take the Sat in november and send in that new improved score after I complete and send my early decision application?

-Will taking sat IIs in october be soon enough to include in your early decision application?

Answers to these questions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, first quarter report is required.

Yes, but you have to make sure the scores are sent directly to Northwestern.

Yes

Beg to differ-the first quarter grades are taken into consideration if they have them..but unlike most schools they are not required. So-if you want them to review the 1st quarter senior grades get them there ASAP.....

I was told (by the admissions office) that November SAT scores may or may not get there in time, so don't count on them being considered.

So basically after you submit your early decision application you can send other updated test scores and grades and such such as 1st semster grades?

But isnt there a good chance these will not be considered if they review the application before the other materials come in?

Right. Northwestern doesn't accept November test scores by the way, and you don't send in your 1st semester grades. If you think your SAT scores and GPA will significantly improve by December, then you should apply RD. That's my $0.02.

uhhh: Are you serious? But NU has a 46% ED admittance rate!

Isn't it better to do early decision? If they defer me (they will probably not reject me) I can send along my senior grades and improved SAT right?

but you ARE saying they definately won't look at my november SAT score and senior semester grades right?
Can anyone verify this please?

Yes, I'm positive about everything I said. I want to apply ED too, so I've read every single detail on the application and their website. The test information is on the SAT/ACT FAQ section of the official website. It specifically says ED applicants need to finish their testing by October. They also "recommend" 3 SAT II's, but they aren't required.

As far as your senior grades go.. the introduction part of the application says midyear report is for RD applicants ONLY.

I'm afraid I'm the carrier of bad news, but that is their policy. Also, they won't defer you. I'm going to quote the adcom: NU does not make a practice of deferring ED applicants. So I'm assuming that it's basically hit or miss.

In my case (I applied ED and got in)-I know that my high school sent 1st quarter senior grades. I assume they were considered. But again-they aren't required.

I have been told that NU starts looking at ED aps as soon as they get them-I could have been misinformed. But...I would make sure that you have everything you want looked at there ASAP.
