Hi, i'm currently a senior with a gpa of 3.05 in Mech Eng. I would like to go to graduate school for either civil or industrial eng. What do you think are my chances of getting into a grad school? I'm currently in Boston and would like to go to california. does anyone out in california know my chances? is it more likely for me to get into one of the UC schools or a private school?
thank you so much!

I had a 3.1 overall GPA and a 3.4 in Mechanical engineering major GPA.

Got accepted at 2 top 5 and 2 top 15 graduate schools in Industrial Engineering. I got 1 rejection at a top 15.

Do well in the GRE (750+ in math), have good recommendation letters and write a good statement of purpose and you can get any of the lesser ranked UC’s, the only UC that would be a reach is Berkley. Stanford is also very hard to get into.

For Industrial Engineering in Cali that you are a match for:
- USC :Pretty good school and has a nice acceptance rate and a huge program
- San Jose State University: only up to masters program, Strong but small

Civil will offer you a lot more selection since not many California schools offer a program in Industrial Engineering for graduate school.

USC is the best bet, good luck.
