Hi!
I want to transfer to NYU next fall as junior standing and my major is actuarial science. Since my major is offered in Stern rather than CAS, Stern suits me more. But Stern is a lot harder to get in than CAS, so I wonder if I should apply for CAS first and then internally transfer to Stern or apply for Stern directly?

Any suggestion would be extremely helpful!
Thanks

As I know transfer from CAS to Stern is very hard. So you should try stern directly.

Thanks for advice. But I have a concern: since I really want to get into NYU and the chance to be admitted into Stern is a bit too low, I am worried if I am rejected by Stern, I won’t even be able to get into NYU. I know there is never a perfect situation but I am thinking maybe if I get into CAS and at least I have a little bit higher chance to Stern if I work hard and at least I am at NYU already.

The tour guide was a Stern Student when we visited. He told us only one or two student was able to gain admittance to Stern from NYU CAS with near 4.0 stat.

You need to call NYU to find out your chances.

I see. I think I will apply for Stern directly. I really appreciate your reply. )))))))
