Hello all,
I am currently finishing my third semester of community college with a 3.67 GPA. My problem is that I’ve put off math until now. This would be fine if I stick with my current prospective major, which is Philosophy (I also have 2 other major reqs finished that I am considering but the math requirement is the same, thus the “prospective”), but I have found that I really like economics( both quantitative and theory), which requires the first two levels of Calculus. So my question is this: Do I apply for transfer this coming fall in a major that I am now having second thoughts about just for the sake of being “done,” or do I go for what I want and spend the extra year? The UCs I’m interested in are UCLA, UCB, and UCSD.
My ultimate goal is a JD/MBA dual degree program, which I know can be sort of wide-open in terms of major. Philosophy is a good “LSAT Major” but I think Econ may prepare me better for the sector I’d like to work in. I appreciate any advice, my mind is a bit scattered on the idea.
P.S It is probably helpful to know that I am 4 semesters away from completing the calculus for Econ. I went to an awful high school and was also an awful student so I had no idea I could enjoy and understand math the way I am now.
