So I'm applying to ND this year (RD), and it's my top choice. The faith aspect at ND is one of the main reasons why I'm applying, but ironically, I'm a Protestant (says one of my essays + my high school is a Christian school) and I'm serious about my faith.
So in my essay(s), will it be weird to say that I love the faith aspect of ND? And how would being not-a-Catholic affect my chances?

No, that won’t be weird at all. ND is very happy to have many non-Catholics who grow stronger in their faith in the time that they are here. The ND community loves helping people develop a deeper relationship with God, whether those people identify as Catholic, Protestant, some other denomination of Christianity, or even if they do not identify with any denomination.

I’m not a student at ND (I also applied RD), but one of my friends, who is Catholic, has made a bunch of friends through this group on campus called Iron Sharpens Iron which is basically a group of Christians from all denominations coming together and celebrating being Christians from my understanding at least. Hope this helps!

Yes, irishhopeful9195, the two main Christian groups on campus are 4:7 and ISI. 4:7 is a Catholic fellowship group, and ISI is a nondenominational Christian group. Both groups are very similar in that they both meet weekly for praise and worship and discussions of faith.

I’m actually in the same situation. It’s nice knowing I’m not the only one. I’m a devout Protestant who wants to do something in ministry but there aren’t really any high quality academic Christian universities outside of Notre Dame. I want a mixture of academics and Christianity so I feel like ND would be a strong mix so I applied ED but haven’t got my decision yet.

^^I can confirm Irishhopeful is correct. Iron Sharpens Iron (ISI) is an active, non-denominational Christian group at ND. Check it out even if you’re Catholic.
