applying as neuroscience major, but want to minor in music

is this possible?? do i have to apply separately to the Thornton School of Music?

it is probably possible (depends on which minor and if you have enough space to take both..most likely yes)

And yes you have to apply separately to thorton, I would apply after you know you got accepted to USC because they take most minor applications anytime, you know you want to go there, and less stress to your college applyingness. But that's just me. Depending on the minor, you might also need a performance audition.

thanks so much!

At graduation last May we heard that several kids received an award called a Renaissance Scholor. These were kids who excelled, not only in their major but with a very different minor (or double major). I believe that you would be a potential Renaissance Scholar.

When you arrive at USC in August as a new freshman, the music department posts audition slots for you to audition for a music minor. You do not have to worry about applying until then. Be sure to come prepared to audition in August. Once you succeed at the audition, the department will give you a clearance to enroll in your music classes. If you do not get in the first time, you will be able to take classes for nonmajors if there is space available and audition again at the beginning of the next semester.
