Applying as Undergrad?

Hi,

Is it possible to start Undergraduate and use your CC units/credits to skip/fulfill Major requirements. (Physics)

For instance I have credit for Chem, Calc I-III and Physics. I was thinking if it would be better for me to start as freshman and use my units? or is it better to transfer instead?

Thank you!

You don’t choose whether to apply as a fr or transfer applicant, each college has policies that define how you apply based on the number of classes/credits of post-HS college courses you have taken. For some schools taking 1 post-HS college class means you must apply as a transfer, at some having attended college post-HS for less than a year full time permits you to still apply as a fr, and others have limits in between these extremes.

Whether applying as a fr or transfer, you can transfer any credits the college will accept.

Are you a high school student who is taking community college classes, or have you finished high school and now are a community college student? If you are a high school student, it is usually advantageous to apply as a freshman rather than as a transfer because the financial aid is usually better.

In either case, you don’t get to decide which credits transfer or as what. That decision is made by the college/university that has admitted you.
