Applying early action but still taking subject tests

If I apply via early action to a University- Georgetown and/or Michigan- but I Am still planning to take subject tests after I apply early action, could I send them the scores I received after the deadline? I’m worried because I don’t want to get rejected and then not be able to apply to the University again

  1. UM very rarely, it at all, rejects applicants from EA.
  2. Subject test is not required by UM. Great score may help though.

So unless my sat is extremely low I shouldn’t worry about getting rejected outright? Can I send sat subject test scores after the early action deadline?

Sure. If you are accepted EA, you don’t care if they read your SAT2 or not. If you got deferred, they would include your SAT2 in the RD evaluation.

Advice from U-M admissions:
"Q> If I plan to take the ACT with writing or SAT with Essay in October, will that score arrive in time to complete my application for Early Action?

Unfortunately, scores from October ACT with writing or SAT with Essay tests will NOT arrive in time to complete an application for Early Action. If you have previously taken the ACT with writing or SAT with Essay and are taking the test again in October, you must send in your previous scores to complete your application. Once your new scores from the October test have been received, we will add the new information to your application."

@GoBlue81 So for example, since I have a 1400 on my most recent SAT, even though I Am taking the sat one last time in October, I have to send the 1400 score and the October score will come after the application deadline. Would they still accept my October score even if the score arrived after the deadline.

Also, if I take subject tests for example in November and I send them my scores obviously after the EA deadline, would they still take my subject test scores in the early actions admission process?

You need to have a score submitted by the deadline to get your EA application complete, otherwise, it will be automatically deferred into RD. Once your EA application is complete, new test score received after the deadline but before the review will be considered. So the October score would be fine while the November score may be too late. After all, the subject test scores have much lower weight in the admission process.

When does the review take place? Is it a set date

It is not a set date as there are over ten thousands EA applications. The initial review process will take weeks somewhere between mid Nov to mid December.

"Test scores including the writing or Essay result must be received by the deadline in order for your application to be considered complete by that deadline. If you are a freshman applying for the Early Action deadline date, please consult with the appropriate testing agency to determine when your test results will be available for uploading by the University of Michigan. One complete SAT with Essay or ACT with writing test result must be received by the U-M by 11:59 PM November 1st in order to qualify for the Early Action review process.
