Applying ED: How beneficial is it?

I'm an international wishing to apply for Williams ED for Fall 2010. I'm scared of applying ED because it is risky. I also require substantial financial aid to support my education. Will I get cheated in ED by getting less fin. aid? Do I have other options if I get less fin. aid in ED?

Williams will meet 100% of your need, without loans, if you are accepted; why do you think applying ED is risky?

What if they treat my need as less, although my need is actually a lot and cheat me?

If the financial aid they offer is not sufficient to allow attendance, you simply decline the offer and apply elsewhere RD.

Is that possible for that particular year? Isn’t ED binding?

ED is binding unless they don’t offer you enough aid. From the common app instructions:

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/docs/downloadforms/ED_Agreement.pdf

What else are they going to do? Force you to show up, and then kick you out when you don’t pay the bill?

Thanks vossron…you relieved me…

No, you would get the same aid. From what I’ve seen, top colleges will defer most international ED candidates who are not stellar to see what other applicants they get from the country RD. They are likely to accept those they know will get into HYPS.
