I’ve been told that I should apply for chemistry instead of engineering because my stats are not good enough. (Here are they for reference: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1804373-chances-for-mit-stanford-cornell-etc-im-an-international-student.html#latest)
- Is it really true that chemistry is an easier major to get in? How much do admissions officers really care about what major I select?
- Since I'm part of extracurriculars that focus more on engineering but I may have SAT scores, a GPA, and a curriculum that are below expectations, should I still apply for engineering over chemistry?
Thanks. I’d appreciate any comments and suggestions. (This is just to prove something to my admissions counselor.)
