I know you’re all antsy but just so you guys know, it makes zero difference whether your app is in on Feb 15th or March 15th.

When I applied, I used a paper application and mailed it on March 15th like 7 minutes before the post office closed. Didn’t matter because the adcom didn’t even look at it until around March 30th.

I’m transferring from University of Michigan to Cornell CALS for the Fall 2010 intake. I recently put in my mid-term form and I was wondering if universities like Cornell will grant you admission based on the work you’ve done so far as well as on the mid-terms or will they wait for the grades of the courses you’re doing this semester before offering admission?

But yes, since it’s rolling admissions - the earlier you hand in your application, the earlier an AdCom will see it, and likely - the earlier you MIGHT get a response back.

It’s never a bad idea to hand in early anyways - you can always update later.

Sort of true. I sent my application (CAS) before anyone else here last semester (by just a few days) and I heard back a day early. It doesn’t make too much difference but if a day is what you’re looking for, then yeah sure, go for it.

Perhaps they’ll let you know upon the receipt of a COMPLETE application – (mid-terms, instructor evaluation etc)? Yes, I submitted my mid-terms based on the exams I’ve had so far though I have a 1 credit course that only begins mid-semester so I indicted that.

In any case, my application, based on the system, is complete. So I’m crossing my fingers hoping I’ll hear from them earlier. No idea how long I’ll have to wait?

it’s really all over the place. i got my stuff in on the very last day and was one of the first to hear back, sooooooo… it really doesn’t matter, you’ll be waiting a long time anyway. you might hear in may, probably june.

I am quite sure collegebatman means he has to pay his housing deposit for fall semester and would like to know his decision before so he can not pay the fee if he gets accepted and save money

I share your situation collegebatman! The nyu deposit is gargantuan :'(

i haven’t read anywhere that CALS has rolling admission. There’s a BIG difference! Can someone please confirm whether CALS has rolling admissions or not?
from my understanding, the application process works as a whole for the university, not individually for each college. if they say the filing period is feb 15-mar 15, i think it makes sense to nto send in anything before feb 15.

chris, admissions is done individually for each college, but when you send application materials, you send them to the central transfer office, not the individual colleges. it takes time to sort and organize all of the applicants’ stuff to forward it to each college.
