I guess I would, but yeah in writing we dont have midterms. I mean is it worth explaining a B?

and yeah the midterm report is due on March 15th, who knew that my “devious” plan was actually the right way to do it. Oh well.

it’s not worth explaining a B, especially not in a difficult class like chem. and if the rest are As, then you’re freaking out for no reason.

For School Form, like instructor evaluation, high school counselor, and etc are sent by mail right? Because I talked to my high school counselor, and she told me it has to be done by online; she says CA will send her email form. But CA does not ask my high school counselor’s email address! What did you guys do???

thanks Ironically, I suppose I am freaking out. This admissions process is scary since if I don’t get in I am kind of screwed.

luckeyg, those forms are sent by mail. it is done online for freshman, but not for transfers. Make sure to correct her, because mine thought the secondary school report was for my college, they aren’t too well versed in the admissions process for transfers.

My standardized tests are a bit weak, but I have been told they play almost no part in applying to CALS as a transfer.
SATs : 1850
SAT II : Biology-M : 610, Math C1: 630

I have met with multiple people who work at Cornell and other staff, who I think might be giving me recommendations. I am friends with an alum who is still very much involved with the university and he will be giving me a recommendation as well. I have done a lot of research about the IS program and I am a very good fit. Everyone in the IS departemnt i have talked to agrees as well.

I have the usual ECs and such, I also run a small freelance web design business from my dorm room. I spent countless hours on my application perfecting it making sure the essays were as strong as possible, and so on.

Tell me what you think.

HI everyone, I just finish my application for Cornell. I apply to School of Hotel Administration.
I study at Community College of Philadelphia.
My GPA:3.95
Member of Student government association, Phi Theta Kappa
I have been working as a restaurant manager for 4 years.
I never took SAT or graduate high school in US because I came here when I was 20 years old and as an immigrant.
Don’t think I can get accepted to Cornell ( had to think a lot when I made a payment of $70) but it is worth to try. Good luck everyone.

^^ they have a lot of international students in the hotel school. i think your restaurant management experience will be a plus. your gpa is definitely strong. do you have any other experience that would be relevant to hotel management? write good essays that clearly explain why you want to study there and what you’ll do with your degree

Thanks a lot for your comment ironicallyunsure. I don’t have any other experience that would be relevant to hotel management. In my essay, I wrote about my experience as a manager, the reason I go back to school is I want to be a better manager, and if you really like to do something do your best include go to the best school. haha my essay is weird. Moreover, in my supplemental form I fill out that I’m very poor. haha

blech. i think i got an A- on my orgo midterm, but would it be paranoid of me to send in my midterm report after march 15th but before april? i can make that A- into an A after my second exam in the third week of march. everything else will be postmarked by march 15th of course (except transcripts—argh stupid cuny!!!)
i’m a little confused by something. for CALS, are we required to send in SAT/SII/ACT score but the adcoms don’t look at it? Or is it just that we don’t send them at all?

ugh, i wish i didn’t waste time the night before my midterm watching figure skating. i don’t even like figure skating all that much; i just wanted to see kim yuna fall because she’s so hyped up now (and i’m rooting for mao). karma’s bitten me for my malicious thoughts.

People who are complaining about A-, please don’t. You guys are making me feel like a ****. I think I just failed my major class midterm. ■■■… I am pretty sure, they will like your grade than mine, so don’t complain about that dash next to the letter.

@melon… I just sent it. I wanted to save that $9, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. And also, I could not study because I was watching figure skating too! haha!! how funny! I was rooting for Yuna lol. I did not really like her before, but I think she’s pretty good! I rather have failed my calc midterm than my major one… I studied so hard for calc, but ended up being an easy cheesy pie… :(((

I had the registration for next quarter today, but I ended up not getting Bio class, because I am not in BIO MAJOR!!! WHAT THE HELL!!! I had 3rd priority, but it doesn’t do any good! CALIFORNIA FAILS!!! GAH!!! I emailed Cornell about taking bio during summer, hopefully, that works out.

omg i register in like a week for summer classes, hopefully i get my first choices…

I wish i didn’t put off my march 1st apps, the essays arent’ as focused as i want em to be, but w/e. must look forward!

@luckeyg:did you watch ice dance? some of the costumes were a little…and in men’s singles that guy who wore the bones costume made me think “really? you’re gonna wear THAT in front of millions of people with the weight of your country’s expectations for medalling weighing on your shoulders?really?” and while yuna’s jumps were very technically on point in her SP, i think mao’s routine has more expression and greater overall quality. She got the world champ title before yuna and has done some really difficult jumps in the past;hopefully she can beat her tomorrow in the FS. “Mirakuru” mao fighting! Sorry I have turned into a slighty rabid mao fan.

I wonder if they’ve begun reviewing complete applications.

This is what the admissions committee e-mailed me, verbatim:

‘There is no specific date that transfer students are notified of their decision. We release decisions on a rolling basis from early April to June.’

I checked with my profs who wrote my recommendations letters to see if Cornell got to them. Seems like it didn’t. When do they get to profs to verify the documents. I guess when they do, it shows that the review is underway yea?

I didn’t even know they verify with professors lolz. I always wondered how they figured out whether we forged references or not - since they told me to fax my professor’s. The world makes sense again.

What? You can fax in your reference? How does that work?

And what do you mean by Cornell asked you to fax your professors? Fax your professors what?

Cornell doesn’t verify anything with professors. I know that for a fact.

Hmm. How do you know that for a fact? I’m surprised they don’t verify with profs? What about other schools? Aren’t they worried about forgery?

@Melon: yea, the skeleton costumes was quite interesting, but the whole thing was ridiculous except some of them. I just want Yuna to do her best, not just because I am Korean, but I know how she went through the practices and stuff. I don’t know her personally, but I heard about her through people who practiced with her. I used to figure skate in Korea, so I know some people who figure skates with her. And her story is quite amazing. Anyways, I want her to win a gold medal for Korea, but most importantly, I want her to do her best. If she doesn’t get the medal, she will trip really badly, and I don’t want that to happen to her. Personally, I thought Yuna was better than Mao; her face expression, and the motion, and how she flows with the music was just amazing! Jump gives you the most points, and yes, her jumps weren’t that great, but musically, and show-wise, I LOVED IT!!! and I LOVED HER DRESS!!! IT WAS SOOO CUTE! I kind of wish Korea was less mediamaniac. I love my country, but they can go RIDICULOUS…

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, I WANT TO GET INTO CORNELL!!! IF I CAN GET IN, I DON’T GIVE A **** IF SHE WINS GOLD OR NOT… well I kind of do, but hehe you know what I mean… :)

I don’t know for sure that if Cornell would verify with your professor or not. However, I believe that there is no way cornell will verify. They receive a lot of applications . Most of the applicants are A+ students. There are no way they need to make up a recommend from their professors and most of the professors will write a good thing about their students unless you got an F in that class.

cornell has 0 time to bother verifying. most letters should be coming in on official stationary and the envelopes should be sealed and signed so… yeah. or you could try it and tell us what happens ;)
