Applying for fall of 2010 Cornell

Steeze, I can tell you right now you will not get into CAS. Neither would I. It’s virtually impossible to get in. The acceptance rate is like half of that of the other colleges. As for your first question, the highest acceptance rates are found in CALS or ILR.

I hear although CALS is easier, it favors NY state residents for admission, much like how CSU/UC favors a bit for in state applicants…

and then inside CALS, i hear AEM is just as hard to get into econ under CAS? and that other CALS major hold up to being “easier” to get into, just not AEM?

dunno if i made sense. Ive spent the entire day doing transfer app stuff I’m ready to get accepted already lol

Lol I hear that steeze.

You are correct. Yes if your going econ, then CALS or CAS pretty much have the same acceptance rate.

CALS econ is applied where CAS econ is more theory.

Yeah AEM is supposed to have like a 10-12% acceptence rate and I think also gives preference to NY CC students. I guess the “easiest” of the 3 would be ILR but that is also supposedly extremely fit based.

Yea I’m not sure if I Love Reading…does anybody know about ILR’s econ program in detail?

College to where you are applying from: the one in central asia
GPA 3.8 unweighted
EC’s: a lot
reasons: need wider facilities for revealing potential
recoms: pretty good
Appling ILR. Oh, does any international student applying ILR already had an interview? Cause I sent my number to schedule it 4 days ago, still nothing.

Can anyone comment on ILR labor econ vs CAS econ?

haha, you won’t get into CAS econ. I’ll pm you further explain.

so i heard the econ program in cas is comparatively easy to get in?

^^^o god lol.
have you not been following the last 10 posts? haha
read above.

hey, can someone explain me the criteria of selection to ILR. Someone with great essays and scores are rejected. Why? What ILR transfer admission seek?

Steeze,
I didn’t know what i was doing when putting the question there… lol

anyway, does anyone know how and when will we get the decisions? by email or mail?

Why it says in my status that they didnt receive the app fee. I paid online on commonapp and when I checked commonapp, it says Cornell already downloaded my payment.

abbos - it’s a mystery. if we knew, we’d all get in lol

for the bio and writing requirements, i registered for an upper level writing class and bio 1 for the summer(i have bio 2 already, long story…). Should i email cornell this or do i just tell them in the common app under “additional info”? and should i register for intro bio 1 or cell bio 1? my situation is that i have credits for bio 1 from APs, and can register for cell bio 1 (bio 200) over the summer. i kind of want to take the more advanced class since i’m missing a requirement and all, but is cornell really stringent on applicants taking intro bio 1 and 2?and does it help if you have all your intro sciences completed (chem, physics, bio) before starting at cornell?end of twenty questions

and @castiel: sorry, i’m jumping off the bio and society boat. i think communications would be a better major for me, at least in terms of the coursework i did and my research projects. but that means infinitesimally less competition for you!

and biology practicals smell.

quick question, for the essays, whether it be CA or Cornell’s supplement, do you double space or single space? Which one is preferred?

i think double space would be best, coz u want the reader to feel comfortable right?
format of my essay is:
12pt.
times new roman
double space

Question: The website says that decisions are mailed May and June. Is this true? Most other schools require admission deposits during May. I don’t want to pay a deposit and then find out I got accepted to Cornell. It seems like that is what attending Cornell requires.

bquin - you can call and either ask for your decision early or call the other school and tell them you’re waiting on another school and see if they’ll extend it for you

i’d take intro to bio if that’s the requirement for cals

my essays were single spaced, though i doubt it makes a difference

As I read Fall 2009 thread, CALS started releasing the decision on April 13th (yeah, this early). Most of the colleges released decision until mid May.
