Applying for fall of 2010 Cornell

No, it means that you cannot transfer more than the given limit. It’s used to prevent people from entering as a last semester senior. *exaggerated

Chris, the secondary school report is different from the college official’s report. The secondary school report is supposed to be handed in by the counselor of your high school, but it is not needed as a transfer.

However, you DO NEED: the official high school transcript.

you can apply with tons of credits to cornell, though if you’re close to being done, they might look down on that. i came in having completed 74. they’ll only take 60, but that’s because you need to take 60 at cornell to earn your degree

Ironic, did you get interviewed by an alumn when you applied for admission? I don’t know anyone in particular, but if it is important for the application then I will look for somebody.

Hey you guys think its a good idea to submit sat scores if mine were on the lower end?.. 1290/1600. the school I’m applying to doesn’t require it.

nope, no interview with alumni. i don’t even think you’re even offered them. they’re required for some schools within cornell, but then they’re conducted by admissions people or people working directly with admissions (ian in ILR for example).

if you don’t need to submit your SATs, don’t bother. the SATs are meant to predict how you’ll do your first year in college, and obviously how you actually did will show them what happened.

Thinking about applying again… I really think that I would fit in and thrive at Cornell…

For those of you who don’t remember me, I was not accepted to CAS when I applied for the Spring 2010 semester.

I was able to battle through last semester while saving my 4.0 GPA and will be a part of some research next semester, but other than that, nothing has really changed…

shrugs

ironically, how’s Cornell treating you?

ironically I have a 1360/1600 should I not send that in either?

stryke, definitely apply again! persistence is key  i would be happy to help you with your new essays if you want, so PM me if you’re interested. and i absolutely LOVE it here. it’s all that i ever wanted, minus some huge problems with the bf, but seriously, it’s amazing. come visit me! :)

castiel, your SATs are good, but i really wouldn’t bother unless you’re applying to a college that requires them

Ironic, how should I fill out my FAFSA forms? Do I do it for both schools- one for the present school and one for Cornell?

Any CALS applicants who need advice, info, or assistance, just shoot me an email: rmb283@cornell.edu

I’d be happy to help you guys out, but I don’t check CC much anymore, haha. Lemme know if you need essays read or anything of that assortment.

*Note: I agree with ironic; Cornell is sick nasty awesome. I mean a few awkward spots, one being I haven’t found a solid group of bros that fit my interests to hang out with yet (literally all of the transfer group I’m with are all girls…not a bad thing by any means, just very lacking in fist pumps and video games at the moment.)

Food is great, don’t listen to the girls who complain there aren’t enough options, haha. Housing is awesome for some, iffy for others, really just depends where you are. I’m in a double in a suite and it’s cool to have your own space/bathroom, though my suitemates and I haven’t bonded all that much yet. I’m sure it gets better. Classes are fantastic, fun, and interesting, probably going to get a lot harder but that’s to be expected.

And the campus is…uh…win. End of story. You just have to experience everything to believe it.

So yeah, email me if you guys need assistance, lol.

i actually have no idea about finaid stuff, i’m sorry

and yeahhh cornell = perfect :)

haha I was in a Cornellian mood so I sifted through the fall 09 and spring 09 transfer threads. They were HUGE! (thats what she said)

anyways I think that it would be cool to make this thread just as long (over 120 ish pages).

Ill just start with basic info about me. I am at NYU and transferring to CALS for biology and society.

how about you guys?

I’m at RPI and attempting to transfer to CAS for Computer Science. This will be my second transfer attempt (and third application total). I applied for freshman entry, as well as last semester.

Castiel, I think we’re applying for the same majorxD I’m at Macaulay Honors College at Hunter. I had applied to cornell last year, but was WLed (tears). Hopefully I can get in this time!
I’m a little worried about how CALS will feel about my recs. I’m going to send recs from Econ, English, and Psych teachers(research mentor). I tried asking my O-chem teacher, but she said no (she had issues with me leaving, saying that i shouldn’t leave a “great” program like MHC for cornell). Since I’m applying for biology and society, do you think my choice of recs might hurt me?

YAY!!! more biology and society, im great to hear that. I applied early decision to Cornell and was flat out rejected so its ok haha. Hopefully we will get in this time!

woahh those are a lot of recs. I am only sending one from my public speaking teacher. (bio and chem were wayyy to large to have any professor student interaction) so I think you shall be fine.

the fact that ur a ny resident helps btw :D

do you think CALS would be annoyed by that? Should I send them a note explaining the situation with my chem teacher? my multi teacher would be no better because his written grammar is really hard to understand and his writing style is flat. So I’m worried about sending “fluffy”, irrelevant recs for a major like B+S. The best I can do to send in a hard sci rec is to ask my second research mentor–but i’ve been working under him for less than a month, so it would be awkward.
Ugghhh I HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE. My HS had a bigger budget than my current mhc program. And was way more fun.

Fellow transfer applicant to CALS from CUNY Hunter here (not MHC though)
Sup melonbread

i’m aight purple, but i have 5 classes 2morrow. at least i only have 3 full days of classes =)

International, applying to CALS for biological science. Nice to meet you all.
