When do you have to apply for housing by in order to be guaranteed housing?

I don’t think housing is guaranteed, and accepted students are encouraged to sign up ASAP. It does seem like they do have room for all freshman but some dorms are more desirable than others.

Maybe the CC U of O rep will answer this for you in more detail.

I do know that you can put a $400 housing deposit down to secure your place in line —first come, first served----any time after you are accepted. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COMMIT TO ATTENDING before you do this. Interesting, hmm? If you decide not to attend and notify housing by May 1st, they will refund all but $50 of that to you. My son did this in January at the advice of a current freshman, long before he decided to attend.

So, if you can afford a $50 gamble, it’s probably best to get your name in the housing queue by doing the online housing deposit.

May 1st is the deadline.

Thanks for your question, papillonlover! Applying for university housing does not have a universal deadline. As soon as you are admitted to the UO you’ll be able to apply for housing. Because space is limited, we encourage students to apply as soon as possible. Admitted students who are eligible to apply for on-campus housing who complete and submit the $50 non-refundable application fee and the $350 prepayment of the contract at the same time are guaranteed a space in on-campus housing. Thanks for your question!

I too have a question with regards to housing. Figure I’ll post it here too.i applied for housing in December, but now that I am officially going and know which friends are too, I want to update it. When I do the housing change form to add roomates and change answers to some of the questions does it make my application time change to the updated application, or stay with the time the original one was sent in. I know that housing usually goes to first come (applied) first served.

Hi, hockyjew. Making updates and changes to a housing application does not affect the original submit date. Thanks for your question!
