On my electronic Provisional Award Letter for UCLA, it shows my estimated eligibility for gift aid and then under "Net Costs" I have

Work Study $1,500
Direct Subsidized Loan $3,500
Direct Unsubsidized Loan $2,000
Federal Perkins Loan $2,200

Do I have to have to apply for these loans? Or are they given to me already? Sorry haha, I don't know anything x__x

“Work Study” isn’t a loan; it’s a job on campus that you can try to apply for and they pay you just like a regular job. The other three are loans but if you’ve already been given them then I think all you have to do is figure out how to take the entrance counseling/sign the Master Promissory Note before they’re disbursed to you.

Do I have to do that in person? :O

And, is there a deadline?

No, you have to do it online; it’s a form that you fill out and “sign” electronically. I’m not sure about the deadline though; you need to do it before you can get access to the money so that means you want to do it before you have to pay, but apart from that I think the best source of information for your particular school is your school’s financial aid office.

I hope that helps! It’s not a complicated process but you want to get it through as soon as possible to make sure that any money you need is accounted for. I know the Perkins loan is limited availability so if you wait too long it might be used up before you can accept it. If you have to take a loan, the Perkins is one of the better ones out there so try to get it now before it runs out.

Thank you so much!! (:
