It all depends on your genes and health. The break-even point for waiting is ~82. If you live past that point, you would be better off waiting to claim until age 70.
Don’t forget that SSA only uses the unisex table. Many of the college educated women on this blog should, actuarially-speaking, beat age 82. Beyond that, there is the spousal benefits, which is not calculated in the take-early discount. Nowadays, the odds of one of a married couple getting to 90 is increasing rapidly. In which case, definitely better off waiting.
