I want to apply to CSULB for Spring semester of 2016, however I believe I have a small chance of getting into UCLA for Fall 2016.

Don't ask why I dont just apply for CSULB Fall semester 2016, its not important. My dilemma is that UCLA applications will be due by November 30th, and I have to confirm acceptance to CSULB by December 1st, so UCLA will not even know that I applied or was accepted to CSULB.

So basically I might spend spring semester at CSULB, and be notified that I have been accepted to UCLA from my CC in April of 2016.

Its a complicated sounding problem, I know. But will UCLA basically rescind my Fall acceptance upon finding out I transferred to the CSU in the Spring? Am I forced to tell UCLA that I transferred to another school before admission decisions? Or is this actually possible for me to do?

Thanks for any help on this convoluted matter.

I did the exact same thing last year. After I finished at CC I transfered to a CSU for Spring 2014. Then I was accepted to UCLA for Fall 2014, and wanted to transfer to UCLA. There are 2 things that are super important to do, to ensure that you keep your standing as a CC student, and don’t get your acceptance rescinded.

1) Do NOT go over the unit max. For UCLA I believe its 85-86 semester units. That’s a total combined units from cc and CSU. You can’t go over even by .5 units.

2) Take at least 1 class at your CC during the spring. I took 4 classes at my CSU, and 1 at my CC. I took an additional 2 classes during summer 2014 at my CSU, but stayed under the unit cap.

Also try to take classes at CSU that will transfer to UCLA. There’s no articulatuon guide, so you’ll have to try to match up courses based on name and description. I had to petition to get 2 of my courses counted because they originally only gave me credit for 4 of them. Save your syllabi. After petitioning, I got credit for everything.

I did not tell UCLA about the courses until after I was accepted. Once accepted I completed a form online to indicate my Spring classes had changed from what I said originally. In a few fays I rteceived a response saying nothing with my admisdion changed.

This response is very helpful. Unfortunately I believe that I will have gone over 85 semester units because I foolishly completed my GEs instead of only completing my transfer prereqs (Mechanical Engineering).

If you go over the unit cap with units from a 4-year school, you’ll be rescinded. 99.99%

And no, you can’t omit that info if you transfer to UCLA.
