Applying from college - a little concerned though

Hello all,

I applied for USNA out of high school but was rejected, so went to an Senior Military College (Norwich U.) with the idea of applying from there. I had an application started, but did not complete it, as I had convinced myself that I couldn't continue to do what I was doing, and relive the freshman hell for another year.

As I enter my sophomore year, I'd like to give it another go. My main problem is, however, the application seems to ask solely for high school stats, which frankly, weren't amazing. I'd like to think that as a double Chem and Bio major now, with a 3.4 GPA, and having gone through a Plebe-like experience for 8 months, that it would be taken into account.

I'm just curious if my college information will be used as a primary evaluation source, or if high school is going to haunt me again.

2 slightly related questions, as well:

-Do class credits transfer? I've taken Calc I and II, Chem I and II, and English I and II (along with some electives for my major and 2 ROTC classes), but I'd hate to have to retake everything.

-I'm applying for an NROTC scholarship right now and should be finding out if I got it soon. How would that work if I was accepted to USNA but still has a scholarship? Would I be forced to pay back the money they had already given me?

Thanks for your help!

Your college grades will be considered. SATs are used as a predictor of how you will do in college level courses- they become less important once you have college grades to report. Ditto for HS classes and GPA- your college GPA will carry far more weight, especially if you have taken courses that align with USNA plebe year classes- calc, chem, english lit and history.

No, they will not transfer. However, during plebe summer, you will be given an opportunity to challenge those classes and validate out depending on how you score.

No. If given an appointment, assuming you accept it, you will be fine.

Hi guys,

This is my first post and it is very important question!!

Right now I have a 3.0 gpa and just finished 10th grade.

I’ve done track this year and volleyball last year but I’m not on varsity for high school I’ve also played on a homeschool V-ball team for about 6 years. And I did a major homeschool play this years. Right now I volenteer about 2 hours a week at my library.

If I work REALLY hard and get a 3.7 or 3.8 gpa next year and my senior year (i can do it i’ve just been lazy!) do AP coures and CLEP test, and I volunteer about 5 hours a week or more and if do high school swimming and track and cross country, (maybe varsity if I work really hard) maybe debate and possibly a play or two, and get good SAT scores (650-700) for each category…

so probably my weighted gpa will be about 3.5

Is there a chance that I might get accepted into the US naval academy?
I really want to go there and am prepared to work my butt of these next 2 years.
I know i’ve been stupid in being lazy but I want to try to redeem myself
IS IT TO LATE!!!
Please try to give as much detail as possible

If this is not the right place to ask this can somebody tell me the right thread to post this question in

Thanks
