Applying late (December 28) will hurt chances?

Hi there,

I have started the application process and was under the impression that SAT II's were not required for some schools as long as you took the ACT. I now realize that some schools require SAT subjects regardless. Considering that I missed the November test date and will have to take the subjects on December 7th, how badly will this hurt my chances of getting in and getting financial aid? That is, considering that the RD deadline is January 1st. I am feeling a little frustrated that I did not hear about this sooner. Oh well.

Thanks for your time.

Understand that deadline dates are school-specific. The vast majority of schools will indicate on their admissions websites the last SAT/ACT testing dates that they will accept. As long as you comply with those guidelines, you are not “applying late.” You are applying “on time.”

FYI, there is often a separate set of deadline dates for financial aid materials. You should inform your parents of the financial aid timeline so that they aren’t rushing to fill out forms last-minute.

Follow the application policies set forth by each school to which you are applying. If you have any questions about anything, contact the school directly. It’s that simple.

I guess you’re worrying about the chances in Early Action since so many people submit their application even in September. I am also applying this year and I can say for UCs, it is totally alright for your SAT 2 taken no later than Jan. But for other schools, I’m not sure if it’ll hurt. But as long as you don’t miss the deadline, it won’t hurt a lot.

Can you do late registration for the November SAT? Walk-in registration?

Also, very few schools require subject tests with the ACT but a few very top schools do. Double check?
