Applying late- Major disadvantage or no?

I have a friend who JUST now applied to Michigan State University (Super smart, but major procrastinator) She's in the top 10th percentile in terms of school ranking, and I'm pretty sure she CAN get in... but because they have a huge number of applicants, is it more likely for her to get waitlisted? Or even rejected? I'm getting worried for her...

Did she submit after the deadline?

MSU has rolling admissions, so no. But they get tons of applicants. And the website says that the number of good applicants has outnumbered available positions in the past.

Don’t expend any more energy worrying for your friend. Let her do her own worrying. She will get in, or be waitlisted, or be rejected on her own merits. There is nothing you can do about it.

My question was if she was MORE likely to get wait listed since she’s applying so late, not for you state what I already know…Thanks, though.

Not sure about more likely to get waitlisted, but if the merit scholarships are already given out, she may have less of a chance at those; same with financial aid. I don’t know if you’re asking for your friend so you can tell her you told her so or what, but I also would suggest you worry about your apps and let her be. Many people are procrastinators and do fine in life, and when it hurts them, they just have to feel the consequences on their own and learn from it.

Well, since they have Rolling Admissions, the later you apply, the less likely you are to get in. Given that, if her stats really are that great, it shouldn’t affect the application.
