Applying to a masters/Phd in Computer Engineering with a Computer Science Undergrad

Hello all.

I am considering enrolling in a local university to complete a second bachelors in either computer science or computer engineering, since my employer will pay for most of it. While computer engineering is my first choice, my concern is, that it is easier to find Computer science programs that teach at night, than computer engineering programs that do the same.

if i were to do a second bachelors in computer science, would i be able to apply to a graduate computer engineering program in the future? If so, i am aware that I would most likely not qualify to test for a P.E. license, but is this of real concern to computer engineers (as opposed to civil engineers)?

Any advice is appreciated.

A P.E. license is not common among computer engineers, however, getting a second Bachelor’s degree in engineering would certainly qualify you to start the process if you so choose.

The question is whether you really need a B.S. in computer engineering to get into a Masters program in Computer Engineering. It may be possible to take some base courses that will prepare you for the Masters degree without going all the way through to a second Bachelors degree. You should look at some of the Masters programs you might be interested in and ask what it would take. Many of these programs have evening sections for working professionals.
