Applying to a variety of colleges...take a look?

I'm in a somewhat unusual situation...I go to a public magnet school for science and technology that's Very academic (either top in the nation or very close) where lots of kids go on to Ivies and about 1/3 go on to UVA, but I'm looking into several art schools for college because I want to go into apparel/fashion design. However, I'm also applying to a few more liberal arts schools because I'm also interested in creative writing and anthropology. I know it'll be hard to judge without a look at my art portfolio though, but give it a shot anyway?

STATS:
Current junior
Asian female
GPA: 3.85 unweighted (will likely go up after this sem and senior 1st sem)
School doesn't rank.
SAT I: 2280 overall; 730 math, 760 reading, 790 (10 essay) writing ...I just retook these yesterday though to hopefully boost my math and maybe reading scores.
SAT II: 790 Chinese, 770 Math II
PSAT: 232/240...likely a semifinalist/finalist? we'll see this fall
AP Exams: so far Euro 4, hoping for 4/5 on USH, Psych, and AB Calc

taken:
AP European History
AP US History
AP Psych
AP Calc AB

next year:
AP Government
AP English Lang (w/ emphasis on Creative Writing)

(side-note: all courses at my school are taught honors or above)

my main worry with courses...I'm not taking math next year and haven't taken any science APs...because I'm not interested. My school offers a LOT of math/sci/tech courses that I haven't taken. Next year I'm taking an art/social sciences/creative writing-heavy courseload because that's what I'm passionate about...is that going to likely count against me or will colleges see that they fit with my career goals?

anyway...

ECs:
-Color Guard and Winter Guard team all 4 years, Co-Captain last year, Head Captain this year (this takes up a LOT of my time and I devote so much to it...as in, I'm at school until after 9pm twice a week in the winter, and most Saturdays are exclusively color guard competitions)
-Award-winning Literary Magazine all 4 years, Poetry Editor for three (including upcoming year)
-Big Sibs Program for two (hopefully three) years- volunteer program at my school to help incoming freshmen

-Musical pit orchestra 9th grade
-Keyettes (volunteering club) 9th grade
-NHS (11th-12th grades)
-next year my friend and I are co-starting a club to plan/hold a fashion show at my school to raise money for nonprofit organizations (either pediatric cancer research or autism), something never done before at our school

Awards/Distinctions:
-Sole recipient of full-tuition scholarship to Parsons the New School for Design's Summer Intensive program
-2nd place winner of B'nai Brinth's national Diverse Minds program, in which I wrote and illustrated a children's book with a partner

Other:
-art portfolio
-possible creative writing portfolio
-aiming for Scholastics this fall
I have some community service (but nothing consistent) and other minor activities. I'll probably be a tutor to elem kids this fall as well.

Finally for schools (potential ones):

art:
Parsons the New School for Design
Rhode Island School of Design
Otis College of Art/Design
(possibly) Pratt Institute, Maryland Institute College of Art, Central St. Martins (London! Top fashion design program in the world...sigh.)

art/design/other:
University of Cincinnati
Syracuse
Columbia
UC Davis (out of state)

maybe consider:
Scripps
USC
Sarah Lawrence
Yale
Cornell
Virginia Commonwealth University (in-state...this is a BIG maybe because I don't want to go in-state)

Chance me? What are some other schools you might recommend? Thanks!

bump...anyone?

oh and, I forgot to add:
-I did art commissions in 10th grade to fundraise for cancer research
-I've taken/will take every humanities AP possible/offered at my school, outside of the languages

...I guess no one knows about these schools?

RISD is amazing & intense. A lot of very talented peopel devoted to their fields. Parsons has good networking- alot of up& coming designers have had their run at Parsons.

Its hard to judge the art schools without knowing your level of skill/talent but I do have a friend who goes to RISD and she more or less got about the same grades as you but she didn't have as nearly as many EC's so you might have a good shot, academically speaking.

Syracuse, UCincinnati your in, again academically speaking. But a lot of schools are starting to put more of an emphasis on high school transcript AND essay/interview rather than standardized testing scores. Good luck.

I think you have great chances at all, if you're talented enough (which it appears that you are, judging by your ECs)

My friend (who wants to be a fashion designer) also applied to Parsons and Pratt but is going to FIT (NY). Just a suggestion for your list.

I would say that you have a good chance of being a finalist in Scripps JES 1/2 tuition scholarship. Be sure to apply by Nov 1st deadline.
