Applying to CFA

Hi guys  I’m new here, just wanted to ask some questions about BU (which is definitely my first choice). I’m applying to the School of Visual Arts at the CFA.

I was wondering how much weight was put on SAT scores and GPA’s. My GPA weighted is currently a 4.173 and I’m not sure what it is unweighted… I’m taking my SAT I’s this fall. Anyone know the range of SAT I scores for CFA? I’ve already done the History SAT II (700) and Math I SAT II (620). most of my extracurriculars and awards are art related but I have some other stuff too.

Overall, I guess I just wanted to know if the strength of the portfolio was the most dominant factor in deciding who gets accepted into CFA.

Also, I was wondering what the students’ relationship with the boston residents is like? Are the students accepted as part of the community? (not really sure how it works)

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it :)

well i cant tell u about cfa, but as for the boston residents, they basically are students. students occupy probably more than half of the city during the school year. and you wont really see many boston residents around campus except on lower bay state or during the day, and we all just coexist very nicely. allston, however, is a different story, because the students who live there off-campus throw loud, crazy parties and the normal boston residents normally aren't too thrilled.

Your basic academic stats are fine, but yes they do weight your portfolio. I know more about the music side so can't offer more.

Boston is college city USA. For the sections of Boston / Cambridge in which you're likely to go, one might ask how the community fits in with the students.

There is also a reasonably lively art scene.

thanks! :)
