Hello! I am a senior and obviously it’s very late to be applying to colleges and I regret it because I was kind of lazy in the admissions season and didn’t apply to a lot of places. However, I have good academic achievements (33 ACT, 3.98 GPA, great ECs) and I was curious if there are any top 50 schools that you can apply to late. Also, has anyone heard of just emailing admissions offices and asking to apply to their schools? Ive gotten into a couple of safety schools but I was just really hoping to see if there was anywhere better that I could go.
It’s too bad that you didn’t feel motivated enough to apply on-time. I seriously doubt that any “top 50” schools are still accepting applications for the Fall. (There are more informed people on this site who could help.) You may consider doing a gap year and applying for Fall of 2017.
It’s unlikely that a more “competitive” school would let you apply so late although you’re welcome to try to ask. Other options would be attending one of the schools you were admitted to for a year or two and then trying to transfer or taking a gap year.
This list sorts colleges by application deadline: http://www.collegesimply.com/guides/application-deadlines/
Like other posters have said, the deadlines have passed for the vast majority of prestigious colleges like the ones you’re looking for. On that list, the University of Arizona, U Iowa, and Clemson seem to be the most well known (there’s also Liberty, but that’s more infamous than famous ) I’ve heard that the New College of Florida and Hendrix are hidden gems.
You have nothing to lose in calling and asking top-50 schools if you can still apply. But given that RD decisions are coming out right about now, I wouldn’t hold out hope.
So you didn’t act on any/all the ED schools you were looking at back in December?
@Lagging @ChasingMerit @MurphyBrown I emailed a lot of places but none of them allowed me to apply, which is to be expected, but thanks for your guys help! @ErinsDad I applied to 2 safety schools and about 5 high reaches and I really regret not applying to good schools in the middle
There’s a list that pops up late in the acceptance season that lists colleges with open seats. I don’t know what types of colleges appear on it, but you may find something that suits you. Keep an eye out for the link.
