Hey guys,
I'm in a bit of a "curious" situation. Well, to start, I'm a Canadian citizen currently studying the IB program in Iran, where the SAT's are not conducted (unfortunately for me, since I'm a very academic person.) There is no option to fly to another country and take the test there because of the mandatory military service thing. I have contacted various universities (Stanford and the like) and they told me that the standardized testing requirement will be waived in my case. The only thing I'm worrying about, however, is the solidity of my applications. That is to say, when schools tell me that they will waive their testing requirements in my case, will I actually have a shot at getting accepted (considering other parts of my application - transcript, essays, recommendation letters, EC's - are considerably strong)? I would appreciate some advice on the matter, and also if you have ever heard of anyone getting accepted into a decent-to-good college without taking the SAT's. Thanks guys.

When they’ve specifically mentioned that the criteria would be waived in your case, I dont think you need to worry about it. Focus on the other aspects and you’ll be fine. How’re the stacked up? Good luck!
