I'm posting here becasue I'm in need of help and cause I really don't know were else to turn. I've been for the past 2 year doing the IB programme in Sweden and for numerous reasons i ended upp missing my diploma by one point. Anyway I've alwasy wanted to study in the states at a good college and i was wondering is there any chance for this to happen? Becaue what I've heard is that U.S unis mostly if not exclusivly look at your SAT scores when they're contemplating admission or whatever you call it . So if my SAT scores were high would that make my IB grades irrelevent? Or should i redo my Ib test and get high grades then take my SAT's and then apply? This would of course take alot of time which I'm willing to offer but I'd rather see that as a last resort. So what are your tips on what I should do if i want to get into a good school in the states?

Your not getting the IB diploma won't hurt you because very few students in the US are in the IB curriculum. This is true even for the top colleges. Also US students apply to college and get their IB acceptances months before they even sit for their IB exams. Consequently getting or not getting the IB diploma doesn't affect their admissions. I imagine the same would be true for you. Just the fact that you took the IB program means you took more rigorous classwork than the majority of college-bound US students.

What will matter to US colleges are your grades and SAT or ACT scores.

I do not agree with Northstarmom. They look at your grades at AP exams or at the exams that substitute APs. In your case these are IBs. Thus, they do not care about the Diploma, but if you missed it because of the grades (rather than messing up course choices or other requirements), it is not very good. If you grades are more or less OK - no problem.

Im looking to study Political science and International affairs. I messed up the course choices on the IB i did alot of sciences. I've decided though to move away from bio and chem now so I hope they'll take that into concideration. Money is not really a problem I can afford any school.

Edit: Atm Im working as a substitute teacher for yrs 7-9. Also I have worked as a research assistent at hospital here in my city.
