Applying to ivy leagues - Should I report one bad score?

I saw my AP scores today, and they break down as follows.

2013
Music Theory - 5
US History - 4

2014
Chemistry - 5
Calculus BC - 5
English Language & Composition - 5
Macroeconomics - 5
Microeconomics - 5
World History - 3

Clearly I am not the strongest history student. My question is though, when I apply to colleges this fall (some of which are ivy leagues, and others of which have near-ivy competitiveness, such as Northwestern), should I report my World History score? I'm fine with reporting my 4 in US History, as I realize that it looks insignificant next to 6 5's and my GPA and SAT scores (3.85 and 2320, respectively), but the 3 concerns me. I can't imagine ivy leagues would want to see that on an AP exam, although I got an A in the class, if that helps.

So my question is, which would look better; 7 great AP scores and 1 AP class for which I did not report a score, or 8 AP scores, with one 3? In the eyes of ivy admissions officers, this is (I realize that at other schools a 3 is considered a fine score).

“7 great AP scores and 1 AP class for which I did not report a score”

I reported a three in Art History, and still got into some top schools. I really don’t think it matters.

I would report all of them. At an info session, a Yale admissions officer told me that when she sees a kid took an AP class but didn’t report a score for the test, she assumes they got a 1.

Unless they change it for this year, there are only 8 spaces on the common app to put your AP and SAT subject scores. Feel free to omit the 3. Great job!!

I think you’ll be fine just reporting it. You don’t want them to assume the worst.

More importantly, how on earth did you pull a 5 on music theory? That test is hella difficult. Good job, man.

@skieurope: I hadn’t heard that before. Eight each, or eight in total?

@DiscipulusBonus I went back and looked, and it’s actually 10. Each.
