Applying to Korean Universities.

Hello everyone, I am thinking on applying to Universities in Korea some that I have in mind are Kyunghee, Seoul National University, and maybe KAIST. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice applying in Korean. The information tends to be scarce and I don't want to miss any deadlines and such so could anyone help me with how to go about the whole application process applying to a Korean University?. To tell everyone a little about my highschool career, I have been attending a small public school in NYC since my sophomore year of high-school(currently I am about to enter senior year.)Just this past summer I was awarded a scholarship from the Korean consulate general to study abroad in Korea for the entire month of July as a result of my performance in Korean class at school. I have also self taught myself Mandarin Chinese and have been doing so for 5 years. So, I am currently proficient in Korean Chinese and fluent in English. My GPA is quite low because of my sophomore year when my average tended to only be around 82. However I ended Junior year with a 89 average. Seeing as how my school did not offer AP classes until this year, I was unable to take them until now. However, this year I will be taking AP English. Also, I will also be the 12 grade representative for my schools student government and I am a member of photography club and I will join the gay straight alliance this year. I frequently usher at my church on Sunday's and I am now doing a volunteer internship being part of John Liu's campaign(he is running for NYC Mayor) My SAT scores are pretty low at 1510 but I hope to raise them to 1900 by December of this year. Thanks for reading!

Hi, Idk if this place will be of any help to you, but I do know really great sources that can help you. There is a YouTube channel called Eatyourkimchi and they teach abroad and they answer ppl’s Q about education in Korea. I’ll be glad if this helps ;)

If you plan to work and live in the U.S., then you’d be better off going to school here. Also competition for entrance in Korean schools is extremely fierce. I don’t know that much about it but you might find it misery and very numbers driven. You might go to the International forum. and see if there are Korean students.

Maybe you can swing a study abroad semester?

Hey there i think i can help you. I actually attended school in South Korea for a bit. I got accepted into Hongik University in 2010 my major industrial design. My application process was a bit different because i was applying for an art major. But i also applied for hanyang university and korea university as undecided so i know the regular process a bit as well.

Im assuming your applying as a international student. You will need to prove you can speak korean to a certain proficiency. You can do this by taking a proficiency test or a korean language class and get to a certain level (yonsei language institute is the best) or take certain language and culture related classes at the school or your major is english hahah.

The application times are a bit different here i forget when but i think its sometime in june? not too sure you should research it. there will probably be a interview as well. so prepare for that.

Dont worry about getting in lol honestly if you are an international student most universities will take you. But at the same time they wont take you unless you have decent grades. i had 1930 sat score and my gpa was 3.4 hahah and i got into the best design school in asia. But for hongik i had to take a drawing proficient test so it’s not like i cheated the system haha i worked my ass off on that test.

i can go on and on. if you need more info like about how living in seoul is or what the people are like or anything just let me know.pm me and ill give you my email i dont really use this website that much
