Michigan has rolling admissions, with the app coming out early August. I don't get into school until September. I want to give teachers around a month to write my reccomendations, and I didn't ask any of them last year because I didn't realize that it was rolling admissions. If I don't submit the application until early October, when could I expect to get a response? Also, how big a disadvantage is it applying in October versus August/September?

Well, it's prob best to apply as soon as you can with a place like UMICH that gets thousands of apps each year. It all depends on how qualified you are. If you have great scores and grades, then it doesn't really matter if you apply in September or in November, you're probably going to get in either way. On the other end of things, it may not make a huge difference.
