Applying to schools without an SAT score?

I wanted to get my applications in as soon as possible. However, I will be taking the SAT again in October and thus will (likely) not have my best score when I want to apply. Would I be able to apply without sending an SAT score, then sending it after I get my results in October?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes, parts of your application can be submitted in any order, colleges will hold them until your package is complete. Just be sure everything is sent before the deadline and you’re fine.

Bowdoin doesnt even require scores.

Bowdoin? Is my eyesight failing me or is the OP posting in Moderator-proof type?? ;)

I dont get it

enotomom said if the OP had listed Bowdoin anywhere… :stuck_out_tongue: . my eyes are failing too.

FWIW: Bowdoin is just one of many test-optional colleges: [SAT/ACT Optional 4-Year Universities | FairTest](ACT/SAT Optional List - Fairtest)

Usually if you do test optional there’s usually something else you have to send in and many scholarships/merit aid might require scores

the Op wasn’t asking about test optional colleges. He was asking if he can submit application before sending SAT score.

^^ Sorry, my bad.

@mj23kb24: Check the admissions websites of colleges you are applying to. Generally, the October SAT test date is the last one colleges will accept for ED, EA or SCEA. It’s perfectly OK to submit all of your other materials to a college before submitting your SAT test score, but every school has specific deadlines, so you need to adhere to them.

My suggestion will to wait for October score. just wait until you get the score. In the meantime , complete the essays, collect recommendations, and complete a solid application. After you get the score, it shouldn’t take long to complete the texts. It’ll take 1 day at most (6hr/day) to complete an application.

No yeah someone already said what to do, but I was saying just incase something was due or didn’t get the score high enough for schools that offer score choice

@drexter: I like your suggestion. As the October SAT test results become available on October 24th, that would give the OP a week to send in the rest of his or her materials by the November 1st early deadline of many schools. In a worse case scenario, it would also give the OP time to target other schools, if the test results were not what was expected.
