Applying to SMTD and LSA?

Can anyone share if UMich’s School of Music Theatre and Dance is less competitive for females than the rest of the SMTD programs? I have a C 27 on the ACT and 3.9 GPA from a Michigan public school. I’m thinking of applying jointly to LSA for journalism and the BTA program. Does applying to BTA increase my chances of getting in? Thanks!

I don’t believe there is much information on BTA and SMTD here on CC. I can’t remember many, if any, prospective SMTD students posting here in CC. Mostly LSA, CoE, Nursing and Kinesiology students. The bulk of them being LSA and CoE.

But what I can tell you is that for LSA, an ACT score of 27 is low, even for prospective instate LSA students. The lowest ACT score that I collected here on CC was a 28. But CC is very small sample size that skews towards higher stat students.

Best of luck to you.

If your GPA is unweighted AND you have the talent look at the academic requirements. They are less to get in but you need to have the talent regardless of your gender
This is a world class university with the talent to match.

Call and talk with admissions now for your best course of action, would be my advice.

Anyone know when the next wave is expected to go out?
