Applying to Stanford, UCB, Rice as a HS junior.

Hey guys, I'm a long-time lurker here on CC. I'm applying to these colleges as a junior because I'm simply curious as to whether I'll get in or not. I might to go to one of these, and whatever the outcome, I'm still going to complete my senior year and graduate with the rest of my class because I love the whole high-school experience.

Question: How will colleges perceive my earlier B's in community college classes?

Thanks! :)

Colleges hate to think they were wrong, so getting into a college that rejected you a year earlier is tough. I would not apply to any colleges this year you have no plans to attend, you could shoot yourself in the foot for when it counts.

I don’t really understand the benefit of doing this other than bragging rights if you’re not going to actually go to these schools…

There doesn’t seem to be much point in applying if you’re not going to go anyway. These schools will hold you to a higher standard than the other students if you don’t have a diploma and one question they will ask is: WHY does he want to enroll early? If the answer is “because he’s exhausted all of his local resources,” THEN they will accept you.

You probably COULD graduate this year, with all those external credits, if you want to. Otherwise, why rock the boat? Your application is unusual enough that it will stick out like a sore thumb next year and you might well be wait-listed or rejected by schools that would have accepted you because you previously demonstrated a lack of “emotional maturity.”

My son’s stats are actually pretty close to yours, but he’s doing the 3-year-graduate approach.

why in the world would you apply as a junior…Only if you would really consider leaving HS early, why bother apply a year early?

anyways you would have a good shot at rice in my eyes…idk bout the others

I think the point is moot. On reflection, OP won’t be able to apply anyway, because his counselor wouldn’t risk his reputation writing a recommendation for a student that either can’t or won’t graduate this year.

One also wonders if this a set-up ■■■■■ post, seeing that the OP has only posted once in total and that post is rather controversial.

Berkeley - match. The odds are 1:4

I’d definitely apply if i were you.
