Applying to UT and A&M. What are my chances?

I'm apply to UT and A&M with a biology major planning on going to med school.

Current rank 18%, expecting next rank to be around 15%

Taken/will take

AP chem
AP physics
AP calc AB

I have 4 college credits from a community college (personal computing, speech, gov, macron econ)

I'm in the health acadamy. (CNA, Pharmacy Tech phlebotomist certified)

Played golf all 4 years, JV 9th and 10th. Varsity 11th and 12th
Orchestra 9th grade, 3rd chair

In:
HOSA (State finalist)
DECA
Key Club (Vice president 12th)
NHS

Volunteered in public library 78 hrs, public hospital 120 hours

So what are my chances of getting into UT (austin)and A&M (college station)?
And what other colleges should I consider with my major and plans?

The “Top 10% Rule” at UT-Austin makes it a big reach, (I believe more than 75% of their in-state admits are ranked top 10% and thus automatic admits). With standardized tests in the lower third and a rank of 15% I think it’s a long shot to hope that you’ll be admitted.

I think your chances are better at TAMU, 50% of their students were top 10% with 89% were top quartile. To feel comfortable though, you’re going to need to improve those SAT/ACT scores.

No chance at UT. I read they’ve tightened the selection to the top 8%. Scores will definitely have to move up for A&M.

Thanks for the input.
Do you guys have any suggestion for other schools that has a decent biology/pre med majors?

one quick question about the top 8%
Does the change mean that my chances go up? because now I’m “competing” with top 9 and 10% people?
