Applying to Vanderbilt with extra credits - will this hurt my chances of being accepted?

Hi all,

Because I started college in the spring of 2015, I will be completing my 5th semester (75 credits) at my current university by the time I submit my transfer application in the spring of 2017.

On Vanderbilt’s website, it states that seniors are discouraged from applying, students must complete two academic years of schoolwork at Vandy, and that the maximum amount of transferrable credits is 60. I will technically be a rising senior at the time of applying, with 15 extra credits that I would certainly be willing to forfeit if it meant being admitted and enrolled.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone transferred into Vanderbilt after completing 5 semesters elsewhere?
  2. Will these extra credits will hurt my chances of acceptance when I go to apply?
  3. Should I indicate in my essay that I will forfeit the extra credits if admitted?

Thank you!
