We got the BIG envelope today. Praise the Lord!
My son is jumping up and down for joy. In fact, he ran out of here to go get his head shaved. Gasp…

My question is how do we know where the appointment came from since he had multiple nominations? I thought it would be in the packet but I can’t find it.

You'll never know.

You can call your ALO and she/he will tell you. Mine told me where it came from

First, CONGRATULATIONS TO HIM!!!!

Second...as an ALO, I can find out the source of an appointment as has been listed. So if you really are curious, call the ALO and ask them to find out.

But really...it doesn't matter, he got the appointment.

NOW...

a. Make him run EVERY DAY...2 miles would be nice, 3-4 would be better
b. Make him do pushups for every meal! And a LOT of them! :-)
c. Find him a pull-up bar, have him hit it many times a week.
d. REPEAT ALL ABOVE until the day he heads for the Zoo.

Huh, I remember reading that the academies didn't release where the appointment came from. I guess I was wrong...

flieger83, thanks for the advice! I couldn't be more proud of him.

Roman - the SAs don't release what nom source is being charged to the general public but they do tell the nom source and, apparently, the ALO's. The bottom line is, however, that it really does not matter to anyone except the SA and the MOC office. The MOC needs to know for planning next year ... Many MOCs will "claim you" even if a cadet is not technically charged to them. MOCs typically like to claim lots of cadets at a SA from their district!! It's semantics if they are all "charged" to them ... for instance, LOAs may not be charged to a MOC but a MOC still claims them in press releases etc.... By the way, the SAs may still shuffle around who is charged to which MOC right up until July, even after all appointments are handed out ... it is truly a puzzle and as people accept/decline an appointment the picture changes and the SA may decide to shuffle noms around to bring in the most qualified class possible. The bottom line is you don't need to know and it really makes no difference at all to the cadet. Remember, also, that many people are not charged to the MOC at all. You just need a nom to get it but that does not mean that the SA is required to charge you to your nom source. They can charge you to any number of other mechanisms. If your MOC only has one slot and four cadets in that year there is only one charged to that MOC and the other three are charged someplace else. They cannot be charged to a different MOC, they absolutely cannot shuffle noms around from rep to rep. So in that example, those other three cadets are being charged either via the supe, VP, Presidential (if qualified) etc... I know, clear as mud, isn't it?!

Congrats to all who got appointments and to those still waiting, patience ... appointments are still coming out ...
