Appropriate for Wildlife Biology?

My D will be entering her senior year in HS and is interested in Zoology/Wildlife Biology. Most of her college list is western state colleges with dedicated wildlife programs: Humboldt, U Montana, WSU, Co St and Wyoming. She has been showing an interest in MHC, totally unlike the other colleges on her list.

We looked at the list of bio professors, saw some with specialties in organismal biology, but are a bit worried about access to field biology and internships. Is it appropriate to apply? Will she be able to establish the contacts she needs to get started in the field?

Full Disclosure: I dated a student from MHC back in the day but only visited once. Neutral on the experience.

Your D should call admissions, and ask if they could put her in touch with a bio professor who might be able to better answer her questions. Most profs are happy to speak with prospective students, so your D shouldn’t be shy. This is the best way to find out whether MHC can offer what she is wanting!
