April 2011 ACT English Discussion

I put ‘drop’ for the needles one.
I did not include ‘with that’ but I’m not positive.

for the last paragraph of the D.C. story did the introduction start with Indeed? One option was therefore

it was definitely “horribly” horrifically was not a choice

@statlanta Agreed.

@timmy I put from that because the water was coming from the bucket. If you omitted it the sentence wouldn’t make sense, I believe.

@trusty I put Indeed as well. I don’t think therefore or lastly were good transitions.

yea, i put horribly

@trusty
It was “indeed,” referencing the first paragraph.

Was the tree/bucket in the shower “from that”.What were the other choices?

@trustyrusty4 I also put “indeed”, although I really hated it as a starter of a paragraph.

@v1c70r One of them was “delete the underlined portion”, I THINK

What were the other choices for the “indeed” question?

was it horribly or horrible? what was the word after it?

@vc Another option was in there, but that didn’t make any sense

@loveny ‘Depressing’ was the next word.

@macbook3 But again, we needed an adverb and not an adjective.

@firesoul

What are you referring to?

I may not have gotten the wording right but was it:

the white house, who’s glowing lights OR white house, and glowing lights

Had to be “and” if you’re repeating the question right, as “who’s” = “who is”.

I thought it was whose.

Another option besides “and” was “which”. I was very tempted to choose “which”, but felt like and fit better.

I don’t remember if “whose” was an option, but after a little more research that looks like the best one. “Whose” is the possessive of both “which” and “who”.
