April 2nd and no word!!!

I haven’t heard any waitlists but decision pending isn’t a bad sign. Decision pending might not mean anything even because they mail people results and don’t update the site. It’s true the it’s taking forever and if it’s not your first choice maybe you shouldn’t have to wait. Please don’t lose hope!! Even if you’re waitlisted and you call urgently, they like that. I still have a lot of hope even though I haven’t heard back, but I feel like I’ve got a pretty good chance.

Love your optimism! Since we still have until 5/1 to send in the deposit somewhere, l will obviously wait to hear from Chapman before doing anything else. Maybe there will be something in my mailbox today!?!? I figure no matter the decision, it has to be coming this week, yes??? How long do the colleges have to hand down their decision?

Oh, with regard to calling, etc., I heard the interview link on one of the the LMU threads with the Dir. of Adm. at LMU saying that they are very busy at this time, and do not want calls, 2nd interviews, more recommendation letters, etc. He said that at this point if you are on the waitlist (at least for LMU), they have determined that you would be “acceptable” at their school otherwise you would’ve been declined. He said that coming off the waitlist basically has to do with how well they’ve met their yield via early and reg decision admits. And then it is based on what departments are short on yield. He did say you do need to send written notification that you want to remain on the list or else you will be considered no longer interested in attending their school. He said that after 5/1, when they know who is and who is not coming, they can then look at their waitlist, and he said they do this very quickly, as he said that they know that once people make a deposit elsewhere, they begin to “bond” very quickly with that school and unless the waitlist school gets to them quick enough, they often lose people who were ultimately admitted off the list because of that (of course, this could enhance one’s chances - how much who knows?). The other thing about being admitted off the waitlist, from what I’ve been reading, is that as far as housing is concerned, you get what’s left. And, quite importantly, the financial aid packages aren’t there because funds have been already distributed to EA and RD matriculants.

Yeah I’m betting my letter comes this week too. Well one of my friends was waitlisted for University of Puget Sound and she called them asking about her status, and they accepted her because of her call. I’m not sure if that’s because UOP is a small school, or because they were just waiting for more dedicated applicants. Also, if we are waitlisted, do we get a notification? I think even if I was waitlisted I’d still like to know because it would bring me a bit more closure. Chapman is my top, so being positive is all I can do! We’ll cross our fingers together!

If you are waitlisted, you will get a notice saying as such, and then you can follow the “directions” as to which way you want to go with it (remain on the list or pass).

jellly, I just called Chapman’s Admissions Department. CU is also my son’s #1 and the waiting is making us all crazy! Last week they told me they hoped to make all final decisions by the end of the week. NOW they are saying they hope to make all final decisions by the end of THIS week, and explained that they had a 30% increase in applications this year, making it hard to get through them all. I could not get anyone to agree to check on my son’s individual application to find out what stage it’s at. They didn’t even want to know who he was. Given that acceptance letters have been going out to film production applicants since mid-February, I asked if there are still any slots left in film for applicants they haven’t reviewed yet. She said she “thinks so,” but I couldn’t get a definitive answer. Terribly frustrating! Wish we could get more information on the process. We’re crossing our fingers with you!

I just heard from someone in Chapman’s Admissions office that they are TRYING to get everything out this week (sort of annoying, I am so turned off by the process overall at this point).
Interesting you said that even with a waitlist letter, you’d be getting some “closure”… but really, would you??? If you are still die-hard for the school, then you are still “in limbo”. Even if you aren’t “die-hard” but “you’ll give notification you would like to remain on the waitlist and see what happens and how you feel at that point”, you are still, in some capacity in limbo. Like, you will have to give your deposit, etc. at your next choice school by 5/1, but you won’t be purchasing that sweatshirt just yet…

Haha 101233, you do have a point. But at least I will know that I’m not getting rejected. I just want some kind of notification from Chapman! I’m tired of running to the mailbox everyday. What about you? Where is Chapman on your list?

@filmparent-
Yeah I’ve heard from a lot of people that called Chapman, and they all said something along those lines. Maybe you should have your son call them himself, and find out the information that he needs. My parents have done nothing but FAFSA for my college application process. Your son might know more about his information and could ask more specific questions about what he needs to know, especially since he knows how much he wants to go to Chapman. I called Chapman a while back, and the people who pick up the phone don’t seem to know much. Then again it’s mainly the admissions department that know exactly what’s going on, but unfortunately they don’t have time to answer our questions. It’s true that the wait is agonizing! I really hope we all see each other at the admission day! I’m already looking forward to it but I’m just getting ahead of myself…

jelly would you be kind enough to show us just one example or post that supports your claim here?

"@JohnAdams12 and BrookeDavis
There are plenty of people who had decision complete and were accepted soon after. "

Yes, I’m tired of nothing in the mail, no change on webadvisor… Chapman has been my #1 choice.

@JohnAdams12
Well if I did there would be no way of knowing if these people were real. These are my friends in real life. I wouldn’t post a claim like that without evidence, and if I heard from people on this site, I would definitely like to show people. Maybe saying “plenty of people” was a bit of an exaggeration, but two out of two of my friends who have applied to Chapman had “decision complete” received their acceptance letters that very day, or later in the week.

101233- Well I hope we both end up at admissions day!

jelly, thanks…this is all that was needed

"two out of two of my friends who have applied to Chapman had “decision complete” received their acceptance letters that very day, or later in the week. "

No problem! Best of luck JohnAdams12!

Okay, so after not having anything change on my status on webadvisor since Feb. 2nd, I happened to login today for the what has to be millionth time and my status has finally changed to:
Admission Approved

So, does this mean I’m in? It still says the whole thing above that when a status change is made a decision has just occurred, yadda, yadda - wait until you get something in the mail, etc., etc.

WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF IT???
What else could “Admission Approved” mean/imply???

101233, it seems that you are in…

Congratulations!

yup, you’re in. my status changed to approved a week ago, and today i got my packet.

Can’t believe it!!! I mean, TOTAL shock!

I checked today and it said “Decision Complete”. I’m beyond ticked. I saw a couple people said that they got a “Decision Complete” and still got accepted though, so I’m hoping for that…

My essay was really nice

Applied for Graphic Design. My interview went well, at one point he said “When you are admitted I MEAN if you are admitted…”

Congratulations, 101233! So glad your long wait is over and that the outcome was an acceptance! We just checked our status for the 1,000,001 time. Still "decision pending. What an opportunity Chapman has given us to practice patience.
